6 Tips for Cleaning Tile and Grout

Nothing beats entering a bathroom or kitchen space that looks as clean and inviting as a room designed around cleanliness should be. You always want to maintain a clean and attractive environment around all your rooms. However, maintaining a truly clean bathroom and kitchen can be a daunting task for the average homeowner, especially kitchen/bathroom tile and grout. Here are easy tips and tricks for cleaning tile and grout in your home.

Clean the Bathroom/Kitchen a Little Every Day

Well, be sure to spot-clean the floor tiles, wipe off the tile backsplash and counters, and handle other small tasks that will help freshen up your kitchen or bathroom each day. You don’t have to do a thorough deep-cleaning job every day. It becomes easier to handle other cleaning tasks every other week when you do those small, twenty-second tasks.

Vacuum the Tiles

One way to prevent your tile floors from becoming dull is to vacuum them regularly. Vacuuming can help eliminate the loose debris, pet hair, and dirt from the tiles, whether on the wall or floor. Make sure you’re vacuuming regularly so you can get rid of the loose dust and dirt before it gets ground and accumulates into the floors as people walk around.

Scrub the Surfaces

It’s best that you leave your tile cleaner to sit for a about five minutes before you start swiping it. Spray the tile cleaner, spread it around and then let it fight the grime on the tiles before scrubbing it clean. Be sure to use a non-abrasive scrubbing tool to scrub the grout as it’s more porous. After scrubbing the surfaces and cleaning, remember to clean the cleaners thoroughly.

Dry all Surfaces

Sitting water always forms water spots on tiles. It’s, therefore, important that you dry the tile flooring with a clean, lint-free piece of cloth as soon as you’re done washing. Also remember that wet floors can be a safety hazard. Use color-coded dry rags to avoid cross-contaminating the different surfaces with residual surface germs.

Consider Placing Mats or Rugs in High Traffic Areas

The kitchen is one of the rooms that receive high traffic in your home. You can prevent wear and tear on your tile flooring from foot traffic by placing mats or rugs around high traffic areas. Place a mat at the entryways to prevent wear on the tiles just inside the door. You may also place another one right in front of the kitchen sink to prevent water from soaking into the tiles around that area.

Get Regular Professional Cleanings

You can never go wrong with professional tile and grout cleaning services. It’s worth the investment since they have the expertise, experience, and equipment to get rid of grime, dirt, dust, and debris that you can’t remove by sweeping and mopping. It’s super easy to schedule an appointment with a professional tile cleaning company. They use proper equipment and safe cleaning solutions that will leave your home totally clean. You’ll be thrilled at how your kitchen or bathroom will look after professional cleaning.

Great experience cleaning my carpets. Quick and efficient and did a fantastic job cleaning. They were able to remove a couple stains that were stubborn when we tried to remove them ourselves. Will definitely hire them again

  • I can't recommend Advanced Carpet Care enough. Their work is excellent and the prices are great too. They came with 2 workers, which really speeds things up. They also helped move all my furniture out of the way so they could clean as much carpet as possible. I typically see carpet cleaners just go around obstacles, but these guys actually move stuff so they can be very thorough. After they left, the carpet looked like new and smelled fresh. We've been putting off a carpet cleaning because of the chemicals, but these guys can use non-toxic solutions and still leave you with really clean carpet. If you need a little more cleaning power, they can use a mild detergent that is still very earth-friendly. Lastly, they are a local business, and I prefer giving my money to the smaller, service-minded businesses over a huge corporation.

We recently moved into a new home that needed some work. We called Gary at Advanced, who met us at the home immediately following closing to clean the carpet and in our first week here we also hired Gary and team to clean our tile/grout and to do an ozone treatment to get rid of a cigarette smoke smell in our lower level. They not only did an amazing job and had our floors looking brand new, but completely rid our home of any smells and they were all so friendly and efficient. Thanks to Advanced we felt comfortable moving our family into our new home and making it our own. We would highly recommend Advanced and will definitely hire them again!

If you have pets, Gary and his team is the best company to use. Gary has done our carpets a couple times but this time he did our furniture due to one of my cats that had a UTI and peed on the furniture and the area rug. Not only did he get all the stains out but also that icky pee smell that stunk the whole room up. Everything now smells so fresh.
