We had a large protein shake spill on our carpet and found it was very difficult to get out, particularly the smell. After about a week of trying to shampoo it on our own, we decided to enlist professional help. Gary was able to fit us in the same day we called. He and his team were very conscientious, knowledgeable and enjoyable to work with. They also took the time to explain the process of how they were going to treat the carpet. Given the type of spill it was and that it had been in the carpet for almost a week before calling, they offered to come out an additional time to treat it, if needed. Advance Carpet Care saved us from having to replace our carpet. We are very appreciative to them and highly recommend them to anyone in need of carpet cleaning services.

Making Christmas Cleanup Easier

Your #1 rule this season will be to clean up any spills right when they happen. The longer you wait the worse the cleanup will be and the more likely to stain.

You are most likely to have some spills this during Christmas time. Even if you take precautions and warn all of your guests not to spill. 🙂 Especially if kids are coming over.

Make it a habit to clean up messes right away. Christmas cleanup will be so much easier and less expensive.

The Dreaded Chocolate Stain!

Are you going to be opening up a box of chocolates near carpeting this year? Chocolate stains are very common this is what to do:

Step 1: Scrape it off gently. Do your best not to spread it or press it into the carpet fibers.

Step 2: Use some carbonated water with a cloth to gently dab the area.

Step 3: Next is more dabbing. Use another cloth, warm water with dish soap. Gently dab and then wait 1 hour.

Step 4: Use cold water and a clean cloth to make passes across the area.

This should get the stain out. Repeat the steps until you see results.

Bright Bright Red Cranberry Sauce Stains

Cranberry sauce consistency is sticky and when cleaning sticky remember not to spread it! Here’s how to clean it:

Step 1: Don’t press it! Lift off the cranberry sauce using a spoon.

As with chocolate you should dab a cloth and carbonated water on the area. You can also dab with dish soap and cool water like with chocolate. Dabbing is the key.

Step 3: If the spill is on a couch cushion.

Mix 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol and 1 tsp of white vinegar. Dab it gently onto the stain. Wait 15 min and then gently blot it dry.

Turkey & Grease Stains (Oil-Based Stains)

Remember our #1 rule? We need to act quickly with oil based stains.

Step 1: Dab the area with paper towels gently. Continue until it doesn’t look like you are soaking anything else up.

Step 2: Sprinkle the area with either baby powder or corn starch. Wait 10 minutes and then vaccum it up!

Step 3: If it’s still not coming out all the way, spray the area with a carpet cleaning product like Spot Shot. Wait 10 minutes and then use paper towels to dab.

Here are some useful tips and tricks that will help you keep your upholstery clean. These tips are tried and tested. You won’t need a lot of fancy ingredients and expensive equipment. Also, you won’t need any help from upholstery cleaning services.

Make Dusting Your Best Friend

The first step to upholstery cleaning is thorough dusting. Make regular dusting a habit. Get rid of all the dust by vacuuming the fabric surfaces of your furniture with the help of an upholstery attachment. Dusting not only helps you remove dust but also removes those tiny bread crumbs and dirts. When you vacuum your upholsteries regularly, dust and dirt don’t get the chance to get more embedded. You can also use brushes that come with soft bristles to clean your fabric couches and sofas. If you’re someone who loves leather upholsteries, use soft clothes to clean them.

Clean Any Stain or Spot as Soon as Possible

Now, there lies the trick. Clean the spot or stain as soon as you discover it. The more you delay, the more difficult it becomes to remove them. They behave just like some stubborn teenagers. After a few years, your sofas and couches lose the new look and smell. Now, you can make your upholsteries look like new ones with the help of this magic ingredient called bicarbonate. While cleaning any of your fabric surfaces with this little secret ingredient, you will need just a handful of bicarbonate and a vacuum cleaner, But remember to try cleaning with bicarbonate on a lazy day as it would need some time to show the result.

First, take a sponge and some diluted dish soap to get rid of the stain. As said earlier, never rub a stain. Rubbing makes it worse. Rather pat it with the sponge. Once you are done, use a paper towel to blow dry it,

If the stain is still there, try any popular spot-cleaner available in the market. Once you’re satisfied with the result, vacuum the upholstery.

Now, it’s time to sprinkle the bicarbonate on the fabric and leave it for around 30 minutes.

After the time is over, vacuum the soft-furnishings once again to ensure that no specs of bicarbonate remain on the sofa,

Very pleased with the work done by Gary and his team! We had the carpet in our new home cleaned prior to move in. They were able to come out the same day I called, and they did a wonderful job on our carpet. Since the previous owners had pets, we wanted to be sure there were no lingering issues or odors before moving in with our own pets. They were so courteous and the carpets look so much better! The impressions from furniture are barely visible any longer, and they pulled a lot of pet hair out of the carpet with the cleaning that remained despite my vacuuming.
